Crescent Point is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Job Title:  Negotiating Landman
Location:  Denver, Colorado
Reports to:  Manager, Land & Business Development

The following will provide you with basic guidelines as to the duties required of this position.

Purpose:

The Negotiating Landman will be a key member of the technical asset team with a diverse array of land
responsibilities all directly attributing to the successful development and expansion of asset value.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Responsible for all land related activities including broker supervision; negotiations of joint venture agreements, operating agreements, unitization agreements; acquisition of leases, rightsof-way, surface use and damage agreements; title approval for drilling operations
  • Assist in major exploration, acquisition and divestment projects through the preparation of joint venture agreements, joint operating agreements purchase and sale agreements etc. as necessary
  • Communicate with Land Manager regarding new and existing agreements and coordinate legal review of documents as required
  • Handle negotiations as requested and coordinate all land due diligence efforts for major projects
  • Communicate with joint venture partners, working interest and royalty owners and handle any problems (i.e. information requests for transfer of interests, production information, etc.)
  • Contact surface owners and coordinate brokers to obtain rights-of-way, favorable damage agreements and permission to conduct operations
  • Maintain good relationships with all surface owners and assist with any problems
  • Communicate requirements to field personnel and independent contractors
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering, geology, and accounting departments in directing and/or carrying out the investigation, acquisition, operations and disposal of oil and gas leases
  • Act as liaison for all stakeholders including partners, industry peers, government agencies, tribal agencies, land owners and interest holders
  • Assist operations and accounting departments in obtaining and compiling information needed for government reports and notices: drilling applications, sundry notices, completion reports, gas determinations, monthly reports of operations, royalty remittance reports, etc.
  • Maintain good relationships with other oil and gas companies, landowners, governmental and Tribal agencies
  • Communicate frequently with others in order to stay abreast of current developments in the oil and gas industry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in Petroleum Land Management or a similar certification
  • Minimum of 7 -10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production industry as a Landman
  • Experience in the Rocky Mountain Region as well Indian Reservations is essential
  • Experience in screening, evaluating, negotiating and implementing oil and gas capital investment opportunities, including those for leasehold, drilling and producing property acquisitions
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in Utah with the Bureau of Land
  • Management, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Ute Indian Tribe Energy & Minerals
  • Exceptional understanding of oil and gas practices, laws, contracts and regulations
  • Must be highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication, negotiating and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the company by making routine public contact with partners, contractors, service personnel, governmental officials, landowners and regulatory agencies
  • Strong problem solving ability to self-direct workload, prioritize projects and make decisions within corporate guidelines and direction of the Land Manager
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop more junior employees
  • Open communication style with all employees to encourage ideas and suggestions for improvement
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications and various software applications used for maintaining lease records and division order data
  • Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
